Dr. Joan created this journal based on 15 years of clinical practice, the most current and robust psychological research, and spiritual wisdom. With a clear focus on bringing you peace, she has combined a series of activities that end disconnection, disharmony, the meaningless loop many of us find ourselves stuck in. This journal will expose the negative images, unhealthy beliefs, and destructive thoughts connected to the moments that deeply wounded us. It will heal the pain and give you the tools and resources every follower of Christ needs to make permanent life change.
Each forgiveness begins with a quick 2 part exercise called fear mapping to help you zoom in on the hidden moments that require forgiveness.
As we forgive it is best to treat the process like an investigation. Dr. Joan provides detailed instructions that allow you to put on your Sherlock Holmes hat as you examine the moments, and people that wounded you.
Forgiveness helps us to understand how we want love to show up especially in the moments we were wounded. It helps us to have compassion as we notice the patterns our family members, friends, and colleagues are stuck in.
Forgiveness is a prayer spoken out loud. We pray first for the one who wounded us and then for ourselves. The most important prayer is the one that breaks forever the negative thought patterns, destructive speech symbolism, and behaviours that keep us stuck in a toxic loop.
The process outlined in this journal attends to the interconnection between mind, body, and spirit. Truth is both in you and external of you, but this journal will help you understand the truth about the life moments that took your peace. You will see with clarity the wounds that disconnected you from you, God, and the people around you. You will see the war you fight and finally choose to end it.
When people think, speak, and act; they teach us 2 languages: Love and Fear. Love is patient and kind, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love is forgiving. Love protects. Fear punishes. It wounds. It distorts our truth. This journal will teach you how to discern the difference so the voice of truth prevails.
“I’m ready to speak my piece. That’s right! It’s my turn—and it’s about time! I’ve got a lot to say, and I’m bursting to say it. The pressure has built up, like lava beneath the earth. I’m a volcano ready to blow. I have to speak—I have no choice.” These are words from an ancient text and by a man who suffered much. His name was Job and you will find these thoughts in Job 32:15-22 MSG. We’ll teach you how to speak your truth so the illness, imbalance, and brokenness can end.
As you move through this journal a healing journey unfolds. You will forgive many people and as you forgive them, they will teach you some important life lessons that become available only as you forgive yourself. Self-forgiveness requires that we look ourselves in the eye and see with clarity the ways in which we have failed to love ourselves and, in turn, our God.
